The Sheffield College
English Summer School

Sheffield College offers different English programmes that are attended by students from all over the world. The College’s International School, which is a member of English UK and accredited by the British Council has fifteen years of experience of teaching English to international groups, running courses such as IELTS, University of Cambridge ESOL examinations, Business English Certificate.

Students will be taught by a team of highly qualified and experienced EFL tutors and English teachers.

Courses Available

English Summer School

During July and August, Sheffield College offers an International Pre-Sessional Summer Course that attracts students from all over the world.

Students are assessed on arrival to ascertain their level of English and progress is monitored constantly so that they can gain the maximum benefit from their stay in Sheffield.

Formal classes take place for 19 hours each week, Monday to Friday and there is a full day excursion each Saturday and a half day activity each weekday. The Summer School is for people with a limited amount of time to make rapid progress in English, learn about the British way of life and spend an enjoyable summer in England.

Students can use this time to improve their IELTS score or take the exam for the first time.

General English Courses for International Students

Full-time English courses run throughout the year and students can enrol for one year, two terms, one term or just a few weeks as required. On arrival, students are given an assessment test and placed in a group best suited to their needs. Special programmes can also be designed for groups or individuals.

General English classes take place each morning and in the afternoon. Students will attend skill based classes for example: writing, IELTS preparation and exam practice. Students will also be able to opt to attend Business English, individual speaking practice and internet sessions.

Students can use the Learning Centres and take part in a range of sports and social activities and join other classes.

Accommodation

The International Office of Sheffield College will arrange homestay accommodation or self catering accommodation for you, prior to your arrival in Sheffield.
