Founded in 1973, Frances King School of English (FKSE) has over 35 years’ experience of teaching English to international students. The school is one of London’s leading English language schools attracting more than 4,000 students each year. The school is located across various buildings all located in central London’s finest areas.
FKSE is known as a friendly school where staff will try to make students feel at home and help them enjoy their time in London. Students will take an online English test before they arrive at the school to help determine their level of English after which students will automatically become a member of Frances King Online. This online study portal allows students to use a variety of teaching methods to start improving their English and prepare for their studies before they arrive in the UK. Upon arrival in London students will take a spoken English test with a senior teacher who will then choose a suitable class. Students will be taught in a typical classroom setting where the emphasis is on spoken communication in English such as grammar and vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading, speaking and writing. Students will continue their learning outside the classroom through use of a self-study centre, homework and participation in the school’s social programme. Once students have completed their course they will continue to have access to the school’s online study portal so students can continue to maintain contact with the school and other students and build their English long after the course has finished.
The school offers a choice of courses catering for many different needs, from general English courses to professional business training courses. Also popular are the school’s parent and child family programmes and the London Teenager Programme for teenagers aged 13-17 with sports, fashion and discover London options. Class sizes at FKSE tend to be a little bit larger than normal (maximum 15 students per class) which helps to keep tuition fees down.
FKSE schools are located in Kensington, and there is an Examination Preparation Centre in Belgravia that is open all year. There is also a school in Hyde Park Corner, used for the family programme in summer, a summer school for adults in Marylebone and a residential school for teenagers in Kensington. All schools are located in travel zone 1 close to underground stations and tourist attractions. They are within easy reach of each other and are well-equipped with study centres and refreshment areas where students can relax and practise their English.
“I have really enjoyed my time in London at Frances King. I have made lots of friends from all over the world and my course has helped me to communicate with more confidence and fluency.” Felipe C. Pereira, Brazil
