The Regent Learning Experience

Regent BrightonThe main reason for the success of Regent students are the Regent teachers who are all passionate about teaching English and helping students develop their English language skills. When new students register for their course they will firstly be assessed on their language abilities and needs which will help the school set realistic and achievable goals for the course. All students have a weekly 15 minute one-to-one coaching session with a tutor who challenges and motivates you to achieve your goals (on Full-time English World and Exam Preparation programmes). Teachers have high expectations of you to help you achieve the best you can.

All courses follow a clear academic structure and rules and Regent uses a variety of effective teaching techniques to help students learn quickly. As well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, students will work on their spoken performance with tasks focusing on body language, voice quality and eye contact. Students will also be working in international teams to develop useful life skills and be encouraged to take at least one exam.

Learning does not only happen in our lessons but continues outside the classroom. Throughout your time with us we want to help you practise your English skills – in the school coffee bar, in the internet café, in your homestay and out with your friends. That is why we try hard to make the school a welcoming and inclusive place where you can easily make friends and build your confidence in another language. By the end of the course many students feel that they are different – having a new identity as a confident English speaker.

Language in Leisure Activity Programme

EdinburghRegent's Language in Leisure social and activity programme is designed to help students have fun, make new friends and to discover modern local culture. The weekly programmes at all Regent schools includes activities such as a barbecue, film night, quiz night, trip to a local pub or sports activity. During weekends and evenings the schools organise a range of excursions. Depending on the location where your school is based this could include: London’s West End, Stonehenge, Loch Ness, Leeds Castle, Oxford and Cambridge. On most Sunday afternoons schools are open so that students can meet up with friends, study and socialise in a friendly and welcoming environment.
